Always Be Creative (the "Club", "we", "us", or "our") is a project by Carrie M Designs. We are a "third space" community encouraging anyone to be creative. These policies apply to our website, our events, and our communications.
1. Event Terms & Liability Release
By registering for or attending Always Be Creative events, you (the primary registrant) acknowledge and agree to the following:
- Safety & Analog Tools: You acknowledge that our events involve the use of sharp tools (such as X-Acto knives and scissors) and other creative materials. You agree to use all tools with care and responsibility.
- Supervision of Minors: You agree to supervise any minors in your care at all times during the event. Our events are not child-care services; parents or guardians must remain present.
- Liability Release: You release Always Be Creative Club, Carrie M Designs, venue partners, the organizers, and any facilitators from all liability for injuries, loss, or damage occurring during or in connection with the event.
- Media Release: You acknowledge that photos or video may be taken during events for use in our promotional materials. You confirm you have the authority to agree to these terms for all participants in your order.
1.1 Ticket Policy & Refunds
- Billing: Charges on your bank statement will appear as CARRIE M DESIGNS or ABC WRKSHP.
- Refunds: All tickets are non-refundable but can be gifted to a friend or donated back to the wider community. This policy helps us manage the materials and intentionality required to run these community experiences.
- Gifting Tickets: Please email us at hello@carriemdesigns.com with your gift preference.
- Exceptions & Event Credits: If you are unable to attend due to illness or an emergency, please contact us. While tickets remain non-refundable, Always Be Creative reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to issue an event credit. Any issued credits must be redeemed for a future event within 6 months of the original event date. It is the attendee's responsibility to redeem the credit; no reminders will be sent. After 6 months, unredeemed credits will automatically be donated back to the community to support future events.
- Venue Support: We encourage you to support our venue partners with a minimum purchase during the event (typically $15). This spend is separate from the ticket price and is paid directly to the venue.
1.2 Code of Conduct & Right of Refusal
Always Be Creative is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone. We do not tolerate belligerent, unsafe, discriminatory, or disruptive behavior.
- Safety First: We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove attendees from the event without refund if their behavior is deemed inappropriate, unsafe, or makes others feel uncomfortable. This includes, but is not limited to, the unsafe use of analog tools, intoxication, or harassment of any kind.
1.3 Event Cancellation & General Policies
- Event Cancellation: If Always Be Creative must cancel or reschedule an event due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., severe weather, venue issues, or facilitator illness), attendees will be offered the choice of a full refund or a credit transferred to the rescheduled date.
- Personal Belongings: We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings during our events.
- Allergies: If the venue provides food or beverages, attendees are solely responsible for managing their own dietary restrictions and allergies.
2. Privacy Policy
We comply with the Alberta Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the Canada Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2.1 Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary for the purposes of managing event registrations, feedback, and communicating with our community:
- Contact Info: Name and email provided during registration (Showpass or Luma), feedback forms (Tally.so), or newsletter signup (Kit).
- Visual Media: Photos and videos from our events, which are stored securely using cloud services (Apple iCloud and Google Drive).
- Technical Data: We use Google Analytics to collect non-identifying information (anonymized IP addresses and page visits) to improve our website experience.
2.2 Tracking Transparency
We use the following third-party services to better understand how our community interacts with our project and to manage our communications:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4): We use GA4 to track website traffic and user behavior. This includes "event attribution" via UTM parameters (e.g., identifying which link in our social bio led to a visit). This data is anonymized and does not include personally identifiable information.
- Kit.com: We use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to manage our newsletter. Kit may use cookies and similar technologies to track when you open emails or click links within them, as well as to attribute newsletter signups to specific pages on our website.
2.3 Implied Consent
By continuing to use this website, you acknowledge and agree to our use of cookies and tracking technologies as described in this policy. If you do not agree, you may disable cookies in your browser settings or cease using the site.
2.4 Cross-Border Data Disclosure
In accordance with Alberta PIPA, we notify you that we use third-party service providers (including Google, Showpass, Luma, Tally.so, Kit, and Apple) whose servers are located outside of Canada, primarily in the United States. Your personal information may be stored or processed in these jurisdictions and may be subject to their local laws.
2.5 Third-Party Vendors & Partners
We may share visual media (photos/videos) with professional vendors (such as videographers or marketing agencies) for the purpose of creating promotional content. This content may also be shared with community partners (e.g., Friends of Chinatown) for social media or promotional use. We do not sell your personal contact information to third parties.
2.6 Use of AI Tools
We may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist with internal project management, organization, and drafting of community content. These tools are used responsibly; we do not input sensitive personal information (such as your full name or contact details) into AI models.
2.7 Use of Information & CASL Compliance
We comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You will only receive our newsletter if you have explicitly opted in. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in our emails.
2.8 Data Retention
Event registration contact info is typically deleted or anonymized within 6 months of the event’s conclusion, unless required for legal or tax purposes.
